Vote-by-Mail Ballot Requests Fulfilled for the Presidential Preference Primary Election

Pasco County FL - Brian E. Corley, Supervisor of Elections, announces that on Thursday, February 8, 2024, over 14,000 vote-by-mail ballots for the March 19, 2024, Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) Election will be mailed to voters with requests already on file.  Ballots to uniformed and overseas citizens were mailed February 2, 2024. 

Pursuant to Section 101.021, Florida Statutes, Florida is a closed primary state, which means the candidate choices on your ballot will be candidates of the same party affiliation.  The 2024 PPP has no Democratic, Minor Party, or Nonpartisan candidates.  Only eligible Republican voters will receive a ballot. 

Some party candidates for president have reportedly suspended or ended their presidential campaigns.  If a candidate did not submit a formal withdrawal before December 12, 2023, in accordance with section 103.101(3), Florida Statutes, the candidate nominee’s name must remain on the PPP ballot for his or her respective party. A vote cast for any candidate nominee appearing on the ballot will count as a vote for that candidate. 

Voted ballots must be returned to the elections’ office by 7:00 p.m. Election Day, March 19, 2024.  Please allow sufficient time for first-class delivery by the US Postal Service, or hand deliver ballots to any of the three Supervisor of Elections’ Offices in Pasco County.  Voted ballots are also accepted at early voting sites but may not be turned in at the polls on Election Day.  Information on office locations and early voting sites is available at PascoVotes.gov.  

For eligible voters who did not previously request a ballot, they are still available by calling the elections’ office, by submitting the request in writing, or by using the on-line request form on PascoVotes.gov.  Requests must include the voter’s Florida driver license number, Florida ID number, or last four of SSN, date of birth, and Pasco County residence address.  Written requests must also include the voter’s signature.  Vote-by-Mail ballots cannot be forwarded but can be mailed to a temporary mailing address if outside of Pasco County.  Voters are encouraged to confirm their mailing address when ordering a vote-by-mail ballot.  The deadline to request a ballot to be mailed is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024. 

Written or telephonic requests for vote-by-mail ballots must come from the voter, an immediate family member, or legal guardian on behalf of a voter.  Voters may pick up a ballot for themselves at any of the three elections’ offices beginning, February 8, 2024 however, carry outs are not available for pick up once early voting begins on Saturday, March 9, 2024.  Those picking up a ballot for someone else begins eleven days before the election, or Friday, March 8, 2024 with a written request from the voter, designating them as the person authorized to carry out the ballot.  The designee will be asked to provide a photo ID and to complete an affidavit before the ballot is released.
