Recognizes Adopt-A-Precinct Participants
Pasco County FL - Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley recognizes 11 Pasco County organizations who agreed to "Adopt-A-Precinct" during the 2014 Election cycle earning over $9,000 for local charities.
Local clubs and organizations use the "Adopt-A-Precinct" program as a way to give back to the community through civic duty, at the same time earning money for charity. Club members attend trainings and staff a polling place on Election Day. They are paid the same wage as any citizen serving as a pollworker, but adopt-a-precinct participants have agreed in advance to donate their Election Day salaries to a local charity of their club's choosing.
"This program works on so many levels. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved", said Supervisor Corley. "We began the program in 2006 with just five groups. This program is a success because of the commitment of local clubs to the communities of this county".
The following organizations participated in the Adopt-A-Precinct program for the 2014 election cycle: Rotary Club Dade City, Rotary Club Dade City Sunrise, Rotary Club of Zephyrhills Daybreak, West Pasco Board of Realtors, Rotary Club of San Antonio, Krewe of Chasco, Junior Service League, Pasco Education Foundation/Take Stock in Children, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Rotary Club of Holiday, and Safety Town.
Through the effort of these clubs and organizations, a total of $9,077.74 will go back into the community as charitable donations.
