Pasco Supervisor of Elections
Launches Signature Project

Pasco County FL - Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley's office mailed over 8,000 requests for signature updates to voters who are slated to receive vote-by-mail ballots in the upcoming 2016 election cycle.  Voters who have not updated their signature since 2005 were mailed a letter, a return envelope, and a voter registration application to update their signature.

Signatures undergo changes throughout life due to maturing or for medical reasons.   Every vote-by-mail ballot signature is compared and verified against what is on the voter registration file, making it critical to document these changes.   A significantly different signature could be the difference between the ballot counting or not.

"Every election cycle we see an increase in the amount of voters who request a vote-by-mail ballot," said Supervisor Corley.  "A current signature may seem like a minor thing, but an up-to-date signature helps us to more effectively process the absentee ballots and insure that every vote counts."

Voters who received the signature update requests are strongly encouraged to complete and return the application.  Voter registration signatures are also used for comparison to signatures on initiative and candidate petitions, making signature updates important for all voters not just those who vote-by-mail.  Voter registration applications for signature updates are available online at pascovotes.com or by calling 800-851-8754.
